Paris has recorded 109 deaths in a single day due to an unprecedented heatwave. This information was reported by Franceinfo on Saturday, June 27th, citing the emergency medical services.

“On Friday, June 26th, when the capital’s air temperature reached nearly 39 degrees Celsius, 109 people died within a 24-hour period,” the report specified.

This statistic exclusively includes deaths documented by emergency medical personnel at homes and in public spaces. Individuals who passed away in hospitals were not included in these figures.

During the same period, medical teams responded to approximately 3,400 calls and registered 30 cardiac arrests. In one case, doctors recorded a patient suffering from hyperthermia with a body temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius.

Prior to this, it was also reported that four children had died in France due to the extreme heat. Additionally, there were reports of 55 drownings among individuals attempting to escape the scorching weather.

The UK’s Health Security Agency issued a “red” alert on June 22nd for the second time in its history, anticipating a temperature rise to 38 degrees Celsius.
