The State Committee of Azerbaijan on Work with Diaspora has stated that messages regarding the events in Yekaterinburg, published on the Telegram channel “ADR – Azerbaijan Diaspora of Russia,” do not reflect the viewpoint of the genuine Azerbaijani community. The Committee communicated this through an official statement posted on Telegram.
The document emphasized that this particular channel is not associated with the real diaspora organization and is involved in spreading provocative content.
“The publication of such messages by a false resource constitutes a provocation against our country and our compatriots residing in Russia,” the committee`s statement declared.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia has expressed disagreement with Baku`s official position concerning the recent events in Yekaterinburg. In their appeal, representatives of the community noted that while they are trying to address the consequences of the incident, Azerbaijani officials are, in their opinion, engaging in political maneuvers. The diaspora`s address was prompted by a publication from the state agency Azertag, which portrayed the events in Yekaterinburg as part of systematic pressure on the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia.
The diaspora criticized the tone of the official statements from Azerbaijan, believing that such remarks worsen the situation for Azerbaijanis in Russia. They urged efforts to be focused on diplomatic work and providing support to their fellow countrymen.
