Deadly House Fire in Moscow Region Claims Two Lives; Woman and Child Survive

Medical news

A devastating house fire in the village of Potapovskoye, Moscow Region, tragically claimed the lives of a man and a nine-year-old child. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 4, around 6 AM.

During the intense blaze, a woman and her five-year-old son were trapped on the attic floor. In a harrowing act of desperation to save her child, she first threw the boy out of a window before leaping to safety herself.

Upon the arrival of emergency services, the woman informed firefighters that her husband and their other nine-year-old child were still inside the burning residence. Despite their efforts, rescue attempts for the two remaining occupants were unsuccessful. Both the surviving woman and her five-year-old son were promptly hospitalized, suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. The fire, which engulfed an area of 63 square meters, was eventually brought under control.

This tragic event echoes a similar fatal incident that took place in late February in the Moscow region village of Konstantinovo. In that fire, a woman and her four grandchildren perished. A criminal investigation was launched into the Konstantinovo tragedy, which subsequently led to the arrest and detention of the children’s mother, who had locked the front door of the house and left them unsupervised.
