Major General Mikhail Gudkov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, former commander of the 155th Separate Marine Brigade, and Hero of Russia, has died in the Kursk region. This was announced by Oleg Kozhemyako, the governor of Primorsky Krai, on his Telegram channel.

The regional head added that Mikhail Gudkov perished while carrying out his duty as an officer alongside his fellow servicemen.

Kozhemyako stated he knew the general personally and described him as a strong-willed warrior. Even after his appointment as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Gudkov continued to visit the positions of the marines. According to the governor, his loyal comrade, Officer Nariman Shikhaliev, also died with Gudkov.

According to `Aif Primorye`, the officers were killed in a missile strike attributed to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a field headquarters on July 1. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet officially confirmed this information.
