A woman who caused a mass car accident on Moscow’s Garden Ring while driving a Mercedes, resulting in two deaths, is facing up to 15 years in prison. This penalty is stipulated by Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
“An act provided for by the first part of this article, which negligently caused the death of two or more persons, if it is committed by a person in a state of intoxication, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of eight to 15 years with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years,” states the ConsultantPlus website.
The woman caused the accident on the evening of April 20th. Initially, she collided with an electric bicycle rider, who died at the scene, and then crashed into other vehicles. Subsequently, one of the injured individuals passed away in the hospital.
Police have detained the woman. She was intoxicated at the time of the accident, and a criminal case has been initiated against her.
