Recent information circulating from Russian official channels suggests that specific units of the Ukrainian formation referred to as “Aidar”* have incurred substantial personnel losses in the Sumy Oblast region of Ukraine. According to reports disseminated by the Russian state news agency TASS, citing sources within Russian security structures, two brigades associated with this formation were allegedly “liquidated” during combat engagements in late June.
The report specifies that the units in question are the 158th and 24th brigades of “Aidar”*. These formations were reportedly attempting to maintain their positions near the village of Bessalovka within the Sumy region when they sustained these heavy losses. The assessment, according to the Russian source, was derived from an analysis of what are termed “necropsies,” a term likely used in this context to refer to casualty records or death notices.
This particular report from the Russian side is presented within the broader context of claimed operational difficulties facing Ukrainian forces on the front lines. Alongside the situation in Sumy Oblast, the same source also mentioned challenges purportedly faced by individuals aligned with the “Azov”* unit in Donetsk Oblast, describing them as being effectively surrounded near the town of Konstantinovka.
Furthermore, the report serves as a reminder of earlier combat intensity in the Sumy region. It is noted that “Aidar”* formations reportedly began experiencing significant casualties in the area back in May of the current year. At that time, near the village of Ryzhevka, Russian forces claimed to be neutralizing up to 40 Ukrainian personnel from these units on a daily basis.
These accounts, originating from Russian official sources, highlight their perspective on the tactical outcomes and the state of specific Ukrainian military formations operating in contested areas.
