Iran`s top leader comments on US intervention in the conflict supporting Israel, referring to a retaliatory strike as a “heavy slap.”
Following the US-brokered ceasefire with Israel, Iran`s Supreme Leader stated that his nation delivered a “heavy slap” to the United States.
On Thursday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated on social media that the US “achieved nothing” by entering the conflict alongside Israel against Tehran.
The Iranian leader commented, “The US regime directly entered the war because it sensed the Zionist regime would be completely destroyed otherwise. It intervened to save this regime but accomplished nothing. The Islamic Republic delivered a severe blow to the US. It attacked and damaged the Al Udeid airbase, a crucial US base in the region.”
According to reports, Tehran attacked a US military base in Qatar on Monday. The US interpreted this strike as Iran`s response to American bombings of its nuclear sites over the weekend, aiming to avoid further escalation.
In response, Donald Trump described the Iranian attack as “very weak,” claiming 13 of 14 incoming missiles were intercepted.
Qatar`s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, confirmed on social media that Qatari air defenses successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles with no casualties.
In his first public address since the ceasefire with Israel was declared, Iran`s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei threatened to target US military bases in the Middle East in retaliation for any future American attacks.
In pre-recorded state television broadcasts, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed his country`s “victory” over Israel and pledged that Iran would never yield to the US.
As noted by , similar to his previous comments published over a week prior during the 12-day Israeli bombardment, he gave these speeches indoors against a brown backdrop, flanked by the Iranian flag and a portrait of his predecessor, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
Addressing the Iranian people, he stated that Donald Trump`s initial demand for Iran`s unconditional surrender exposed America`s real objectives in the conflict.
Khamenei asserted, “The fact that the Islamic Republic has access to significant American centers in the region and can act against them when necessary is not a trivial matter, but a major one, and this could recur if an attack is launched.” He added, “America entered the war directly because it felt that if it didn`t, Israel would be completely destroyed. And in this, the Islamic Republic emerged victorious.”
