Moscow Residents Warned of Traffic Restrictions on May 30th Due to Marathon

Several quays and streets in the heart of Moscow will experience traffic limitations on Saturday, May 30th, owing to the ‘Green Marathon’ event. This advisory was issued by the press service of the capital’s Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development.

Specific closures include:

  • From 01:00 on May 28th to 01:00 on May 30th, and again from 20:00 on May 30th to 09:00 on May 31st, one lane on Moskvoretskaya Street (from Moskvoretskaya Quay to Varvarka Street) will be closed.
  • From 01:00 on May 28th to 09:00 on May 31st, three lanes on the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge (from Varvarka Street to Bolotnaya Street) will be shut off to traffic.

The department further clarified the following timings for full or partial closures:

  • From 1:00 AM to 8:00 PM: Varvarka Street, Il’inka Street, Moskvoretskaya Street, Vasilievsky Spusk Square, and the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge.
  • From 7:00 AM to 11:15 AM: Goncharnaya Quay and Krasnokholmskaya Quay.
  • From 7:00 AM to 11:45 AM: Kotelnicheskaya Quay.
  • From 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM: Sofijskaya Quay, Raushskaya Quay, Kosmodamianskaya Quay, Ust’inskaya Quay, Yauzskaya Street, Sadovnicheskaya Street, the Bolshoy and Maly Ust’insky Bridges, and Ust’insky Proezd.
  • From 7:00 AM to 1:15 PM: Bolotnaya Street, Moskvoretskaya Quay, Prechistenskaya Quay, Staraya and Novaya Squares, Faleevskiy Lane, and Kitaygorodskiy Proezd.
  • From 7:00 AM to 1:45 PM: Kremlëvskaya Quay.
  • From 7:00 AM to 12:15 PM: Luzhniki Street.
  • From 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM: Luzhnetskaya Quay.
  • From 7:30 AM to 12:45 PM: Khamovnicheskiy Val Street.
  • From 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM: Frunzenskaya Quay.

Additionally, parking will be prohibited on the affected sections from 00:01 on May 30th until the event concludes, as reported on the official website of the Mayor of Moscow.

Earlier advisories noted temporary traffic closures on several streets in the Central, Western, and North-Eastern Administrative Okrugs on May 26th and 27th due to Eid al-Adha. Furthermore, traffic on Tsvetnoy Boulevard will be temporarily restricted on May 30th from 00:01 to 20:00 for a children’s cycling festival.
