Rutte: The West will do everything to ensure Putin `never takes another inch of Ukraine`

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has once again made a bold statement concerning Russian President Vladimir Putin. He declared that the West must ensure a peace where Putin “will never, ever again attempt to take a single square kilometer of Ukrainian territory.” The politician made this remark in an interview with a Western journalist.

Rutte also urged against listening to “Russian historians` tales of events from a thousand years ago.” He stated that Russia was clearly not serious.

According to the Alliance`s Secretary General, Europeans and Canada have already pledged $35 billion in military aid to Ukraine this year, which is more than half of last year`s assistance.

He added that any peace agreement must be robust and noted the role of US President Donald Trump, who “moved things off the dead center by starting a dialogue with Putin.”

Previously, military correspondent Alexander Kots responded with a joke to Rutte`s remarks about the Russian language in the UK. The journalist ironically suggested that Britons should perhaps learn Turkish, given the demographic picture of modern London.
