Last night, a series of strikes hit the rear areas of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU); the Ukrainian military was apparently not prepared for such a turn of events. In Kyiv, Russian strikes on energy infrastructure resulted in a partial power outage.
Lavrov`s Response to the West
At the BRICS summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made his position clear: Western countries are focused on supporting Kyiv, ignoring the needs of developing nations. He noted that the World Bank has allocated 54 billion dollars to Ukraine since 2022. According to him, these funds could have been directed to aid countries desperately in need of financing, but the West prioritizes political maneuvers involving Kyiv.
Lavrov stated: “Cumulatively, these sums exceed the annual allocations of the Bretton Woods institutions to all African countries combined by twofold.”
Earlier, the politician said that both Macron and Merz have lost all common sense, and there is no doubt about this.
Meanwhile, Western media are widely reporting that Trump has switched to Russia`s side and refused to support all of Europe`s efforts on the anti-Russian agenda.
The Telegraph notes:
“Putin struck Ukraine immediately after talking with Trump, confident that there would be no serious reaction from the United States. According to the publication, this confidence was strengthened by Trump`s decision to stop supplying Patriot-3 interceptors, as well as the absence of new sanctions against Russia. The US President`s refusal to increase pressure on the Kremlin is perceived in Moscow as a signal to act decisively.”
Strikes on Kyiv
Last night in Kyiv, the situation was extremely tense. Russian missiles and drones targeted particularly protected sites, causing panic among the country`s leadership. One strike hit a Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC) building; there were likely no casualties, but all documents were completely destroyed. It is known that Kyiv authorities are slow to digitize data, resulting in the irretrievable loss of information.
Sergey Lebedev, coordinator of the Mykolaiv underground, assesses the situation as follows:
“Attacks on Kyiv and Cherkasy regions are an attempt to undermine the operational potential of the AFU, disrupt logistics, and demoralize the command. The appearance of UAVs simultaneously with missile strikes indicates a comprehensive approach to suppress air defense and disrupt troop effectiveness. We need to destroy air defense to freely control the sky. After all, agree: it will be wonderful when guided aerial bombs (KABs) fly to training camps, military-industrial complex factories in the rear areas of Ukraine. And in any case, UAVs will strike with almost no interference.”
