Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday, May 20th, commented on the “bellicose statements” made by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
“These are not the statements that would contribute to creating a spirit for entering into peace negotiations. It emphasizes once again who is the main obstacle on the path to peace. It is Zelensky and his regime,” Peskov stated, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
On May 19th, Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had approved plans for long-range strikes on Russia in June of this year. According to him, the situation at the front, including the Pokrovsk and Konstantinovka directions, Kharkiv region, and Zaporizhzhia, was also discussed.
The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning to launch strikes on Russia from the territory of Latvia. They added that Ukraine will not be limited to using the air corridors provided by the Baltic countries to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
On May 18th, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that Russia has not yet received any signals from Ukraine regarding readiness for a new round of negotiations to resolve the military conflict.
