
Poland has commenced a special operation on its border with Germany, announced Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on his X (formerly Twitter) social media page.
He elaborated: “Operation `Safe West` has begun – the Polish Army is supporting the Border Guard and Police on the border with Germany.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz further noted that Warsaw is also extending its activities along the border with Lithuania. According to his information, 5,000 soldiers have been assigned to participate in this special operation.
Earlier, Kosiniak-Kamysz had stated that Warsaw and Berlin would not be conducting joint border controls.
On July 3, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Wiesław Kukuła, announced that 5,000 Polish soldiers would be deployed to reinforce border protection with both Germany and Lithuania.
