Vladimir Putin concluded his participation in the ASI forum “Strong Ideas for a New Time” earlier than scheduled to hold a planned phone conversation with Donald Trump.

Addressing the attendees, the president remarked, “I understand we could have talked longer. But it`s awkward, they might get offended there.”

Towards the end of the event, he asked the participants what message they would like to convey to Trump. One attendee suggested “exchanging films” to show “who we truly are and what values we carry.”

Putin approved the idea, stating it “should definitely appeal to Trump, as he promotes a similar agenda himself.”

He also promised to pass on greetings from the forum participants to the US president.

The phone call between the leaders is scheduled for the period before US Independence Day, celebrated on July 4th.

Earlier this year, for the first time in three years, the US State Department congratulated Russian citizens on Russia Day.
