The popular 1990s comedy show “Ostrozhno, Modern!” ceased to exist due to the personal ambitions of its host, Dmitry Nagiyev, according to his former co-star Sergey Rost.
Rost explained that the discord stemmed from Nagiyev’s unwillingness to share the success of the show with his on-screen partner. Rost noted that Nagiyev feared losing popularity in Rost’s shadow, which led him to distance himself and provoke open conflicts.
“I endured it for a long time for the sake of the crew and future contracts. I tried to turn everything into a joke, but one day it became unbearable. I see life in my own way, what’s good and what’s bad. He sees it his way. I consider it meanness, and he considers it normal,” Rost was quoted as saying by Gazeta.ru.
The iconic television project “Ostrozhno, Modern!”, created with the participation of screenwriters Andrey Balashov and Anna Parmas, aired from 1996 to 1998.
Nagiyev himself has previously admitted to growing up in poverty. During his army service, he decided to pursue acting school. However, the artist faced an incredibly tough selection process, with 255 people competing for a single spot.
