Former US President Trump threatens 10% duties on nations aligned with BRICS

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced plans to impose additional tariffs of 10% on goods from countries that, in his view, support the policies of the BRICS association. He stated this on July 6, 2025, via his Truth Social platform.
Trump emphasized that these tariffs would be imposed “on any country supporting BRICS` anti-American policy,” and no exceptions would be made, according to his post.
In a subsequent message, the American leader added that starting July 7, 2025, the U.S. administration would begin informing foreign partners about the new terms of bilateral trade, including the amount of import duties and the conditions of trade agreements.
Previously, in June, Russia`s Deputy Foreign Minister and BRICS Sherpa Sergey Ryabkov commented on the issue. In an interview with the TASS Analytical Center, he noted that the activity and growing influence of the BRICS group causes “irritation” not only for the American leader, which, in his view, highlights the problem of the Western approach characterized by foreign policy egocentrism.
The BRICS group currently includes ten member states: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, UAE, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Indonesia.
