FT: Trump increasingly frustrated with Putin over his demands

According to the Financial Times (FT), former US President Donald Trump has altered his approach towards both Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky. This shift is reportedly influenced by Trump`s growing dissatisfaction with President Putin`s maximalist demands.

FT authors highlighted that after meeting Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Trump expressed warmth towards him, describing him as `very nice.` In contrast, his position regarding the Russian Federation has reportedly become more stringent.

Commentators cited by the publication noted Trump`s previously fluctuating attitude towards the Russian and Ukrainian leaders. This was exemplified by a heated exchange with Zelensky in the Oval Office in February, which led to a temporary halt in US military and intelligence assistance to the former Soviet republic.

The article further points out that Trump initially seemed more understanding towards the Russian president. However, the journalists conclude that in recent weeks, the American leader`s perspective has changed, primarily because of increasing frustration with Putin over what they term his maximalist demands and his apparent unwillingness to agree to a ceasefire.
