According to the Focus publication, Russia`s Oreshnik medium-range missile system is causing significant concern among NATO member states.

The author of the publication believes that the Western military-political bloc`s anxiety stems from their lack of effective means to counter this Russian weapon.

The article notes that the Oreshnik is capable of reaching speeds exceeding Mach 10, which is three times faster than conventional missiles, and has a range of up to 5,000 km.

It is emphasized in the article that modern interception systems, such as Patriot or even THAAD missile defense systems, are not designed for the simultaneous neutralization of many targets moving at such immense speed.

Earlier, military expert Drago Bosnic stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin`s words about the start of mass production of the Oreshnik missile systems were bad news for the North Atlantic Alliance. According to the specialist, the strategic capabilities of the missile cannot be overestimated.
