Zakharova Explains Purpose of Russian Il-96 Flight to New York

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has commented on the flight of an Il-96 aircraft belonging to the Special Flight Detachment “Rossiya,” which had attracted media attention.

According to Zakharova, the flight to New York was a standard repatriation operation, confirming reports from the TASS news agency.

She stated that such flights are organized on a regular basis, occurring multiple times throughout the year.

The official representative of the Russian diplomatic service explained that the aircraft serves to transport new personnel to diplomatic missions in Washington and New York, as well as to bring back employees completing their assignments.
