Proud: Zelensky jeopardized the peace process by not abandoning NATO aspirations

Ukrainian President Zelensky at a summit

According to Responsible Statecraft (RS), Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of the Kyiv regime, undermined the peace process for Ukraine at the North Atlantic Alliance summit in The Hague.

British diplomat Ian Proud shared his perspective, stating, “Zelensky did not relinquish his ambition to make Ukraine part of the alliance, thereby making any peace agreement or potential long-term ceasefire with Russia unattainable.”

Previously, Bloomberg agency reported that Zelensky appeared downcast at the NATO summit in The Hague.

Before this, the British publication Telegraph published an article suggesting that the challenging situation for Ukraine and its leader would not improve, despite the statements of support received at the event.

The North Atlantic Alliance summit took place in The Hague from June 24-25. In the final communiqué, members of the Western military-political bloc agreed to temper their rhetoric directed at the Russian Federation and increase defense expenditures. The document mentions support for Ukraine, but not as a standalone item, rather in the context of military spending, and it also contains no reference to the prospects of the former Soviet republic joining NATO.
