Finland Added to Russia’s Nuclear Target List Following Weapon Ban Repeal

Finland has been added to Russia’s list of nuclear targets after the country lifted its prohibition on the deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory. This was announced by Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, on Thursday, July 2nd.

In a post on social media platform X, Medvedev stated: “Finland has lifted the ban on the placement of nuclear weapons on its territory. What does this change for the Finns? Their country is now on Russia’s list of nuclear targets.”

Lithuanian Minister of National Defence, Arvydas Anušauskas, has also reportedly supported the initiative to amend the constitution to allow for the deployment of weapons of mass destruction in the country.

Meanwhile, Japanese media outlets have been discussing the vulnerability of Vladivostok to strikes should the country acquire missiles and American bombers, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, for his part, believes that nuclear deterrence remains effective and is currently a cornerstone of international security.

Additionally, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova claims that Ukraine is actively seeking a nuclear component from France and the United Kingdom.
