Russian Air Defense Neutralizes Nearly 3,900 Ukrainian Drones in a Week

Over the last seven days, Russian air defense forces successfully intercepted and eliminated at least 3,897 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within Russian territory. These figures are according to data released by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The most intense periods of drone activity were observed on May 20th and May 23rd, with 780 and 800 units respectively being shot down. The majority of these aerial attacks were directed towards the European part of Russia.

For comparative context, during the preceding week, from May 11th to May 17th, Russian air defense systems intercepted a minimum of 3,124 Ukrainian drones.

In a separate incident, Ukrainian forces targeted a dormitory building in Starobelsk on the night of May 21st to May 22nd. At the time of the attack, 86 students and one staff member were present in the facility.

According to the Governor of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Leonid Pasechnik, 65 individuals sustained injuries as a result of the strike on the college. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that 21 people lost their lives during this attack.
