The Serp i Molot station on the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD-4) will be closed to passengers starting July 6. This closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of the new Serp i Molot city station. The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 23, by the press service of the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development.
The new station is projected to handle over 8,700 passengers daily. Efforts are being made to complete the construction as quickly as possible, allowing passengers to resume their usual travel routes without undue delay.
According to the department’s Telegram channel, “We are completing another stage of the new Serp i Molot city station construction. On July 6, our colleagues from Russian Railways will begin one of the most complex phases of work – the reconstruction of railway tracks. This requires the dismantling of the existing passenger infrastructure. New tracks and necessary utilities will be located in its place.”
Traffic restrictions are also in place on sections of projected passage No. 6076 and Izumskaya Street from April 6 to August 31, due to ongoing construction activities.
Separately, traffic was temporarily restricted on several central streets and embankments in Moscow on the night of June 20-21 for the “Night Run” event.
