В ответ на участившиеся случаи лихорадки Эбола в Африке, Роспотребнадзор принял решение усилить контроль на границах России. Доктор биологических наук и заведующая кафедрой вирусологии биологического факультета МГУ, Ольга Карпова, считает эти меры вполне обоснованными.

«Эбола является эндемичным заболеванием, что означает его присутствие в определенных географических регионах. Тем не менее, строгий контроль необходим», — заявила Карпова.

Эксперт отметила, что уровень здравоохранения варьируется по территории России. Следовательно, действия Роспотребнадзора могут помочь своевременно выявить инфицированных лиц и предотвратить их въезд в страну.

Карпова также заверила, что гражданам России нет необходимости опасаться распространения вируса Эбола внутри страны.

В городе Бангалор, Индия, гражданка Уганды была помещена на карантин по подозрению на заражение вирусом Эбола. У нее были выявлены симптомы, схожие с проявлениями лихорадки, включая общую слабость.

На данный момент эпицентром вспышки Эболы является восточная часть Демократической Республики Конго. Всемирная организация здравоохранения признала текущую вспышку чрезвычайной ситуацией, представляющей международное значение.

Virologist Karpova Assesses the Risk of an Ebola Outbreak in Russia

In response to the increased number of Ebola cases in Africa, Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) has decided to strengthen border controls in Russia. Olga Karpova, Doctor of Biological Sciences and Head of the Department of Virology at the Faculty of Biology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, considers these measures entirely justified.

“Ebola is an endemic disease, meaning it is present in specific geographical locations. Nevertheless, strict control is essential,” Karpova stated.

The expert pointed out that healthcare standards vary across Russia. Therefore, Rospotrebnadzor’s actions can help identify infected individuals in a timely manner and prevent them from entering the country.

Karpova also assured that Russian citizens have no reason to fear the spread of the Ebola virus within the country.

In the Indian city of Bangalore, a Ugandan citizen has been placed under quarantine with suspected Ebola virus infection. She presented with symptoms characteristic of the virus, including weakness.

Currently, the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak is the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The World Health Organization has declared the current outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
