Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, stated on Tuesday, May 26th, during a plenary session, that attacks targeting civilian populations could lead to Russia deploying weapons capable of complete annihilation.

Volodin made these remarks in response to strikes carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a college in Starobelsk.

“All of this could lead to us using weapons that leave no trace of anyone. But we must not let it come to that,” Volodin stated.

The Chairman of the State Duma also proposed a moment of silence to honor the memory of the deceased children, as reported by RIA Novosti.

On May 25th, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Russian Armed Forces would begin systematic strikes on military-industrial complex enterprises in Kyiv.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on May 24th that the Russian army had launched a massive strike on Ukrainian military command facilities “in response to Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilian objects on Russian territory.”

In turn, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko declared that the Russian military department had responded to the AFU’s strike on the college in Starobelsk and would continue to do so.
