Emergency Regime Declared in Rostov Region Village Following Ukrainian Attack

A state of emergency has been declared in the settlement of Matveev Kurgan in the Rostov Region following a Ukrainian Armed Forces attack that ignited an oil depot. The head of the Matveev-Kurgan district, Dina Alborova, reported this on Sunday, May 31st.

Alborova stated on her Telegram channel, “At night, the district was subjected to a massive attack by enemy UAVs. As of 02:20 on May 31, 2026, an emergency situation regime has been introduced in the settlement of Matveev Kurgan.”

Currently, the fire covers an area of 3,600 square meters, with over 100 personnel involved in extinguishing efforts. The fire’s source has not yet been fully contained.

The incident was caused by falling debris from a Ukrainian drone. Residents of houses located near the facility have been evacuated for safety reasons.

On the same day, the Ukrainian army also struck a school in Vasilyevka, Zaporizhzhia Region. The attack damaged a bus and the educational institution’s building. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
