Fisherman Eaten by Shark in Australia During Spearfishing Trip

Medical news

A horrific incident unfolded near Horseshoe Reef in Australia when a 38-year-old fisherman, Steven Mattaboni, was attacked by a great white shark while spearfishing. The predator bit Mattaboni on the calf before mauling him to death in full view of his companions.

Mattaboni had been out at sea with friends when the attack happened. After the shark departed, his friends managed to pull him from the water and began the journey back to the shore, administering CPR en route. Paramedics were waiting upon their arrival at the dock, but tragically, they were unable to save Mattaboni due to the severity of his injuries sustained in the shark attack.

Witnesses described the shark as being between four and five meters in length. The deceased leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.
