Professor Federico Vigevano, Director of the Department of Developmental Disabilities and Developmental Age at IRCCS San Raffaele, recently served as a distinguished speaker at "The 10th Azalea Festival Symposium." This significant international congress, held from March 27 to 29, 2026, at the Fukuoka University Hospital in Japan, was dedicated to "The Molecular Pathomechanisms and Therapeutic Strategies of Rare and Intractable Epilepsies."

The high-profile scientific event brought together leading specialists from various countries, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, Australia, and India. The discussions focused on developmental encephalopathies linked to epilepsy and explored the most advanced therapeutic strategies for rare and complex forms of the condition. Notably, among the limited European experts invited were Professor Vigevano and Professor Nicola Specchio, his former student, who now leads the Epilepsy and Movement Disorders Neurology Unit at the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital.
