Russia has fully provided for its own meat needs for four years in a row. In 2025, the country’s self-sufficiency in meat reached 102.2%, according to Rosstat data analyzed by RIA Novosti.

The 100% mark was first surpassed in the modern era in 2020, with 100.1%. Following a slight dip to 99.7% in 2021, self-sufficiency climbed back up, recording 101.8% in 2022, 101.7% in 2023, 101.9% in 2024, and 102.2% in 2025.

Last year, 27 Russian regions reported over 100% meat self-sufficiency. Belgorod Oblast showed the highest figure nationwide, at 1027.7%. This marks the first time in at least five years that the region's self-sufficiency exceeded 1000%. Ten other regions, including Mordovia, Bryansk, Lipetsk, and Kursk Oblasts, more than doubled their meat self-sufficiency levels.

These figures do not include data from the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, nor Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Oblasts.
