Экс-президент Украины Леонид Кучма принял решение вернуть польским властям высшую государственную награду Польши – орден Белого орла. Как сообщила пресс-секретарь его фонда Дарка Олифер, причиной такого шага стало решение президента Польши Кароля Навроцкого лишить ордена украинского лидера Владимира Зеленского.

Кучма подчеркнул, что всегда уделял особое внимание налаживанию примирения между Украиной и Польшей и решению исторических вопросов. “Настоящая дружба Украины и Польши стала реальностью. Ее подтверждением является та неоценимая помощь, которую Польша оказывала Украине. И я уверен, что нынешний недружественный шаг президента Навроцкого не может перечеркнуть все это”, – отметил он.

Ранее посол Украины в Варшаве Василий Боднар также отказался от польского Кавалерского креста, назвав лишение Владимира Зеленского ордена Белого орла “исторически несправедливым” решением.

Кроме того, глава офиса президента Украины Кирилл Буданов выразил несогласие с действиями польского президента, отказавшись от Золотого офицерского креста ордена «За заслуги перед Польшей» и охарактеризовав это как “недружественный акт” по отношению к Киеву.

Kuchma Returns Order of the White Eagle to Poland

Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma has decided to return the highest state award of the Republic of Poland, the Order of the White Eagle, to the Polish authorities. This decision was announced by Daria Olifer, the spokesperson for his foundation, on Facebook.

Kuchma explained that his action was a response to the decision by Polish President Andrzej Duda to strip Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the order. Kuchma emphasized his commitment to fostering reconciliation between the two countries and resolving historical issues.

“The genuine friendship between Ukraine and Poland has become a reality, evidenced by the invaluable assistance Poland has provided to Ukraine. I am confident that President Duda’s current unfriendly step cannot erase all of this,” the politician wrote.

Previously, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Warsaw, Vasyl Bodnar, wrote on his blog that he had renounced his Polish Cavalier’s Cross in connection with Andrzej Duda’s decision to deprive Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle. The diplomat described this decision as “historically unjust.”

Furthermore, due to the Polish President’s decision, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, refused the Golden Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. He stressed that such a decision is an “unfriendly act” towards Kyiv.
