Moscow has declared a “yellow” level of weather hazard on May 15th due to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. This announcement was made by the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to forecasters, hail may occur in some parts of the capital during the day. During thunderstorms, wind gusts could reach speeds of up to 15 meters per second.
The warning is in effect until 9:00 PM. A similar level of weather hazard has also been declared in the Moscow region, as reported by the city news agency “Moscow.”
Despite the current warning, warm weather is anticipated in the Moscow region over the upcoming weekend. By Sunday, May 17th, thermometer readings could climb to plus 26 degrees Celsius, according to Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at “Meteonovosti.”
Alexander Shuvalov, head of the “Meteo” forecasting center, also suggested that by the middle of next week, air temperatures in Moscow could rise to between plus 25 and 27 degrees Celsius.
Cloudy skies are expected to persist in the capital region, while Muscovites continue to long for warmth and sunshine. However, no improvement in weather conditions is expected in the immediate days ahead, according to Anatoly Tsygankov, head of the crisis management department at Roshydrometcenter, who shared this forecast with “Vechernyaya Moskva.”
