A Moscow court has sentenced a man to 5.5 years in prison for attempting to kidnap his ex-wife in Ufa. He hired individuals, who turned out to be law enforcement officers, to carry out the act. This was reported on Monday, April 27th, to “Vechernyaya Moskva” by the head of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office press service, Lyudmila Nefedova.

“Taking into account the position of the Butyrskaya inter-district prosecutor’s office, a man has been sentenced to 5.5 years in a strict regime colony for attempting to kidnap his ex-wife (Part 3 of Article 30, Clauses ‘a’ and ‘z’ of Part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),” Nefedova stated.

In October of the previous year, the defendant met with law enforcement officers and paid them 300,000 rubles as an advance payment. The man requested that his ex-wife be kidnapped so that he could re-register property in his name. The perpetrator promised to give the ‘executors’ a BMW worth six million rubles.

Subsequently, the security forces informed him that the task had been ‘completed.’ The suspect arrived at the designated address in Ufa, where he was apprehended.

Previously, in Ramenskoye, two men were convicted for kidnapping a person and extorting 500,000 rubles from him. Each of them was sentenced to six years in prison.
