The height of the snow cover in Moscow may increase by four centimeters overnight on April 28. This forecast was announced on Monday, April 27, by the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the agency, snow and wet snow are expected to continue falling in the capital region throughout the night and into the morning. The metropolis could receive between three and eight millimeters of precipitation.
Additionally, snow accumulation on wires and trees is possible in some areas. Air temperatures are predicted to range from minus 1 to plus 1 degree Celsius.
Conditions for icy roads will persist, along with a westerly wind that could gust up to 15-20 meters per second in places, TASS reported.
Earlier, Muscovites were urged to stay indoors due to the wind, snowfall, and icy conditions. The City’s Housing and Communal Services advised citizens to avoid sheltering under trees and to exercise extreme caution.
The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region, in turn, strongly recommended that drivers refrain from using summer tires until the evening of April 29.
Vladimir Pinaev, an associate professor at RUDN University’s Institute of Ecology, also reassured that the recent snowfalls in Moscow and the surrounding region will not affect the populations of ticks, mosquitoes, or slugs.
