Officials Arrested in Azerbaijan for Army Draft Evasion Bribes

Four officials from Azerbaijan’s State Service for Mobilization and Conscription have been arrested on charges of accepting bribes for military service deferrals. This was reported by APA on Friday, April 24.

The Baku Military Court sentenced Etibar Aliyev, chief officer of the preparation department of the Garadagh district department of the state service; Shamil Aliyev, officer of the mobilization and mobilization preparation department of the same department; Niyam Madatsoyly, deputy head of the mobilization and mobilization preparation department of the Jabrayil district department of the state service; and Araz Karimli, officer of the Saatli district department, to four months of arrest.

The agency further clarified that Shamil Aliyev, Niyam Madatsoyly, and Araz Karimli have been temporarily suspended from their positions.
