The Russian financial monitoring agency, Rosfinmonitoring, has officially added the punk group Pussy Riot* to its registry of individuals and organizations designated as terrorists and extremists. The entry in the official list is designated as “Association punk group Pussy Riot.” This announcement was made by the agency’s press service on Friday, May 15th.
The collective is listed under number 709 in the Rosfinmonitoring registry, according to information provided by the agency’s website.
Previously, on January 2nd, a Moscow court once again held a Pussy Riot* member, Pyotr Verzilov**, administratively liable for violating laws concerning foreign agents. He was fined under Part 2 of Article 19.34 of the Russian Administrative Offenses Code for failing to submit mandatory reporting on foreign agent activities to the authorized body. The specific amount of the fine was not disclosed.
On February 20th, the Moscow City Court upheld the sentences for Pussy Riot* members who were tried in absentia in a case involving the dissemination of false information about the actions of Russian troops. Specifically, Maria Alyokhina was sentenced in absentia to 13 years and 15 days imprisonment, and Taso Pletner received an 11-year prison sentence. Additionally, Diana Burkoff, Olga Borisova, and Alina Petrova were each sentenced to eight years in absentia.
