Russia’s Special Envoy for Special Assignments, Rodion Miroshnik, has labeled as cynicism and outright falsehoods the attempts by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets to absolve Kyiv of responsibility for the strike on a bus carrying children from Belarus. Miroshnik made these remarks on Thursday, June 18.
“Mr. Lubinets, the Ukrainian ombudsman, has decided to rehash the narrative that the Ukrainian side never strikes civilian targets and, of course, had no relation to the incident with the Belarusian bus. At the same time, he has not once mentioned that they will conduct an investigation or sort things out. No, he perfectly ‘knows’ that Ukraine never struck here either,” the diplomat stated in a conversation with TASS.
Meanwhile, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko reported that the drone which attacked the bus with children from Belarus in the Bryansk region was of Ukrainian origin. According to him, these provocations are designed to draw Minsk into the military conflict.
On June 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a drone strike on a bus carrying a children’s football team from Belarus in the Bryansk region. The young athletes from Gomel were traveling to Gelendzhik for a vacation.
