Farewell Ceremony for Tikhon Kotrelev Set for March 29
The farewell ceremony for the renowned Russian actor, screenwriter, and director Tikhon Kotrelev will take place on Sunday, March 29, at the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in the capital. This information was confirmed by his son.
The actor's son expressed a wish for the farewell to be "festive," recalling his father as a "person-holiday" who loved large, joyful, and noisy gatherings. He suggested that his father should be sent off in a similarly celebratory manner.
Following the ceremony, Tikhon Kotrelev will be laid to rest at Vagankovo Cemetery.
It is understood that Tikhon Kotrelev passed away on March 25 due to complications from acute pancreatitis, which had previously been diagnosed as pancreatic necrosis. The actor was reportedly struggling with alcohol addiction for several years.
His son stated that his father died after a prolonged illness, emphasizing that Tikhon Kotrelev was a kind, loving person who left behind a large family that will cherish his memory.
Earlier, on March 23, it was reported that Tikhon Kotrelev had not been in contact with his loved ones for three days. On the same day, unconfirmed reports emerged suggesting he might have been in a psychiatric hospital, which was later clarified by the official cause of death.
