Moscow's Northeast to Get New Homes & Centers in Major KRT Redevelopment
Moscow is embarking on a significant urban renewal initiative in its northeastern administrative district. Under the Comprehensive Territory Development (KRT) program, two plots spanning a total of 1.72 hectares in the Babushkinsky and Losinoostrovsky districts are slated for a comprehensive reorganization. This ambitious project aims to construct over 36,000 square meters of new real estate.
One of the key developments will take place in the Babushkinsky district, specifically on Menzhinskogo Street, near the Babushkinskaya metro station. Here, residential buildings will be constructed as part of the city's renovation program. The new housing will exceed 16,000 square meters in total area, providing modern homes for approximately 300 residents.
The second major site is located in the Losinoostrovsky district, on Anadyrsky Proezd, close to the Losinoostrovskaya railway platform. This area is designated for transformation into a new multifunctional hub. Plans include the construction of two new complexes, collectively spanning nearly 20,000 square meters. Among these will be a district center covering about 14,000 square meters, which will be transferred to municipal ownership, alongside a modern shopping complex exceeding 5,700 square meters in size.
Beyond new construction, both sites will undergo extensive landscaping and infrastructure improvements. The entire KRT project is projected to take six years to complete and is expected to generate over 500 new jobs for the city.
The Comprehensive Territory Development program is a strategic initiative designed to convert former industrial zones and underutilized urban plots into vibrant, attractive spaces that are seamlessly integrated into Moscow's broader urban fabric. Currently, the city has approximately 400 KRT projects at various stages of planning and implementation, covering a vast area of about 4,500 hectares. This extensive program is being executed under the direct mandate of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.
