Russia Updates Pensionable Service Calculation Rules
The Russian government has modified the rules for calculating pensionable service when determining insurance pensions. These changes, which came into effect recently, specifically impact parents of twins, large families, and individuals with rural work experience.
Previously, periods of childcare leave up to 1.5 years per child were counted towards insurance service, with a cumulative limit of six years. This restriction has now been lifted. Consequently, pensions for parents with five or more children are expected to increase.
Similarly, the rules for calculating rural service, which entitles non-working pensioners residing in rural areas and having worked in agriculture for 30 years to a 25% supplement to their fixed pension payment, have been clarified. All periods of childcare leave up to 1.5 years per child will now be included in rural service without any limitations.
The procedure for accounting for the service of parents of twins has also been adjusted. In cases of multiple births, the total pensionable service will now include the actual time spent caring for each child.
