Simonyan Expresses Condolences Over Deaths of Lebanese Journalists
Margarita Simonyan, Editor-in-Chief of the international media group Rossiya Segodnya and the RT television channel, has expressed her condolences concerning the deaths of Lebanese journalists Fatima Ftouni and Plie Shaib.
The incident occurred earlier when an Israeli drone reportedly attacked a vehicle in the Jezzine district of southern Lebanon. Correspondents from Al-Mayadeen and Al-Manar TV channels were inside the vehicle at the time of the strike.
"We send our sincere condolences to the channels," the Russian journalist posted on her Telegram channel.
This event follows a prior incident where RT's Lebanon bureau chief, Steve Sweeney, and an operator sustained injuries in the southern part of the country. Both are conscious and stated that an Israeli aircraft launched a missile at their vehicle as they were crossing a bridge.
Following these occurrences, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented that in light of the ongoing killings of journalists during conflicts in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army's strike cannot be considered an accident.
In a related incident on March 5, the Boroujerdi residential complex in Tehran also came under bombardment. An RT media group film crew was operating within the complex, but fortunately, no channel employees were harmed.
