The Spanish national team set a historic record by defeating Saudi Arabia 4-0 in their second group stage match of the 2026 World Cup. This achievement was reported by OptaJose on X.

Spain has become the first team in World Cup history to have two players aged 18 or younger score in the tournament. Previously, Gavi achieved this feat against Costa Rica in the 2022 World Cup, and he has now been joined by Lamine Yamal.

The match concluded with a decisive victory for the Spanish, thanks to goals from Yamal and a brace from Mikel Oyarzabal. An own goal by Saudi Arabian defender Abdulela Al-Tambakti also contributed to the scoreline.

In their final group stage match, the Spanish team will face Uruguay on June 27th.

Previously, the German national team secured a victory against Côte d’Ivoire in their second group stage match of the World Cup. The game, held in Toronto at BMO Field, ended with a score of 2-1. This marked Germany’s 11th consecutive win.
