Премьер-министр Венгрии Петер Мадьяр заявил, что каждая страна-член Европейского союза обладает суверенным правом принимать независимые решения относительно закупок энергетических ресурсов. Это заявление прозвучало по итогам его встречи с польским коллегой Дональдом Туском.
«Европейский союз состоит из суверенных государств, и поэтому они имеют суверенное право определять свой курс по различным вопросам», — цитирует Мадьяра телеканал TVP Info.
Ранее глава МИД Венгрии Анита Орбан сообщила о намерении нового правительства под руководством Петера Мадьяра развивать «открытые и взаимовыгодные» отношения с Россией, признавая ее значимую роль в европейском контексте.
После объявления результатов парламентских выборов Мадьяр также анонсировал полный аудит всех соглашений, касающихся строительства АЭС «Пакш-2» в сотрудничестве с Россией. Он отметил, что по результатам проверки возможно пересмотр финансовых условий или даже расторжение отдельных договоренностей.
Hungary asserts right to independent oil purchases from Russia
Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has stated that every member state of the European Union has the sovereign right to make independent decisions regarding the procurement of energy resources. This declaration was made following his meeting with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk.
“The European Union is comprised of sovereign states, and therefore they have the sovereign right to determine their course on various issues,” Magyar was quoted as saying by TVP Info.
Earlier, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Orbán, announced that the new government led by Péter Magyar intends to foster “open and mutually beneficial” relations with Russia, recognizing its significant role in the European landscape.
Following the announcement of parliamentary election results, Magyar also revealed plans for a comprehensive audit of all agreements related to the construction of the Paks II nuclear power plant in cooperation with Russia. He indicated that the review might lead to a renegotiation of financial terms or even the termination of certain arrangements.
