North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has sent a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was reported by the Korean Central News Agency on Saturday, May 9.
“Allow me to express my profound respect to the veterans of the previous generation who, with incomparable valor and noble patriotic spirit, defeated fascism and protected peace and security on Earth in defense of freedom and the liberation of humanity, as well as to those great years,” the congratulatory telegram stated.
He also highlighted the bilateral relations between Russia and North Korea, which have ushered in a “brilliant period of independence and dignity, peace and prosperity based on the common ideals and aspirations of the peoples of both countries.”
On May 8, Vladimir Putin congratulated leaders and citizens of foreign countries on the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. He also conveyed heartfelt congratulations and words of sincere gratitude to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers.
On May 9, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated veterans and Muscovites on Victory Day, noting that this date is important and dear to every Russian.
