In the United States, police arrested a 28-year-old New York resident who pretended to be a schoolgirl and enrolled in school. The New York Post reported on this unusual case.
Casey Claassen enrolled in Westchester Square Academy in April. At admission, the woman introduced herself as Shamara Rashad, born in 2010. She claimed she had recently moved to New York from Ohio with her sister. She managed to obtain a school ID and then attended classes for two weeks.
However, the school principal suspected something was amiss and decided to verify the student’s identity. After some searching on social media, he found Claassen’s real profile. It turned out the woman was born in 1997 and already has a daughter.
On April 27, the “student” was arrested and confessed to the deception. According to her, she went to school to utilize the advantages and benefits the institution provided. For example, students can travel for free on public transport, receive meals, and are issued laptops, tablets, and mobile phones for their studies. Claassen also intended to obtain social benefits in the future.
The American woman is accused of endangering the welfare of a child, trespassing on school grounds, and impersonating another person. Her first court hearing is scheduled for June 15, according to the report.
Last year, another unusual identity swap story occurred in the US. A 36-year-old American man lived under the name of his former colleague with whom he sold hot dogs in his youth. Living under someone else’s name, the man got married, gave his child a fake surname, and opened accounts in that name.
