Канцлер Австрии Кристиан Штокер выразил мнение, что успешное разрешение конфликта между США и Ираном может послужить толчком для новых переговоров по достижению мирного решения ситуации на Украине, поскольку внимание мирового сообщества переключится на украинский вопрос.
Кроме того, Штокер призвал лидеров стран-членов Европейского союза (ЕС) к установлению контактов с руководством России, в том числе для обсуждения украинского кризиса.
«Конфликты завершаются успешной дипломатией. А для того, чтобы дипломатия была успешной, нужны переговоры, и сначала необходимо открыть эти каналы связи», — заявил австрийский политик в интервью изданию Financial Times.
При этом Штокер воздержался от предположений о том, кого ЕС мог бы назначить своим представителем на переговорах с российской стороной. Однако он подчеркнул, что лидерам объединения следует тщательно проработать позицию, которую займет этот представитель, а также вопросы, которые он будет готов обсуждать с Москвой.
Ранее, 12 июня, украинский политолог Руслан Бортник отмечал, что в ЕС наблюдается раскол по вопросу возобновления отношений с Россией. По его словам, многие страны Евросоюза осознают необходимость восстановления экономических связей с Москвой после завершения конфликта на Украине.

Austrian Chancellor Christian Schallenberg believes that the resolution of the conflict between the US and Iran could provide an impetus for new negotiations towards a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, as attention shifts to it. This was stated on Thursday, June 18th.
He also urged the leaders of European Union (EU) member states to establish contact with the Russian leadership, including regarding the Ukrainian crisis.
“Conflicts are resolved through successful diplomacy. And for diplomacy to be successful, negotiations are needed, and first, these channels of communication must be opened,” the politician stated in an interview with the Financial Times.
Schallenberg did not speculate on who the EU might appoint as its representative in negotiations with the Russian side. However, he expressed the opinion that the leaders of the union should seriously discuss the position this representative would take and the issues he would be willing to discuss with Moscow.
On June 12th, Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated that a division had occurred within the EU regarding the restoration of relations with Russia. According to him, many countries in the union understand that they will have to restore economic ties with Moscow after the conflict in Ukraine ends.
