Two students from Primorye missing after fire on the vessel "Triumph"
Two students from Primorye are listed as missing following a fire aboard the fishing vessel "Triumph" near Kamchatka, according to Anna Proshina, the sister of one of the missing students. The incident occurred on the evening of September 25th in the Pacific Ocean, east of Cape Khodzhilayka.
The fire engulfed the "Triumph," which carried 29 crew members. Twenty-five individuals were successfully evacuated. Four people were hospitalized, with two of them in serious condition. Additionally, four individuals are unaccounted for, including the two students.
The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case concerning violations of traffic safety and maritime transport operation rules.
"My cousin Ivan, a student at the Vladivostok Marine Fisheries College, was on his second voyage aboard this vessel as part of his sea practice. Other students had already completed their training, but he returned home briefly and then went back to sea immediately to avoid wasting time," Proshina stated.
She mentioned that Ivan last communicated with his family two days before the fire. At that point, he was already considered discharged from his duties and was preparing to return home.
"He was scheduled to fly back to Vladivostok in early October. Ivan is from Spassk-Dalny. I also know for sure that among the missing is a 44-year-old resident of Arsenyev, the fiancé of my former colleague. A fourth-year student from the Admiral G.I. Nevelskoy Maritime State University is also among the missing," Anna added.
