Moscow has established a comprehensive city-wide system for organizing children’s leisure activities, which includes parks and cultural institutions. This initiative is coordinated by Mosgortur and emphasizes continuous engagement. The system features free thematic clubs that run year-round, and full-day clubs available during school holidays.
During the winter, counselors lead children in activities on ice rinks. In the summer, a program called “Weekends with Counselors” is offered in various parks.
The “Leisure in Parks” project serves as a foundational element of this children’s leisure organization system, having celebrated its first anniversary in April 2026. Currently, regular activities for children are held in 17 of the city’s parks, including prominent ones like “Sokolniki,” “Fili,” “Kuzminki,” “Khodynskoye Pole,” and Izmailovsky Park.
During both summer and winter breaks, programs such as “Weekends with Counselors” and “Everyone on Ice” are available. For instance, in the summer of 2025, over 570 events were conducted across 14 parks, engaging more than 20,000 children.
The personnel for this children’s leisure system are trained at the Central School for Moscow Counselors. These mentors undergo training and receive state-issued certificates, as confirmed on the official website of the Mayor of Moscow.
