EU and UK "War-Mongers" Panicked by US-Russia Dialogue on Ukraine, Says RFPI Head
MOSCOW, September 10 - "War-mongers" in the European Union and the United Kingdom are reportedly experiencing panic due to the ongoing dialogue between Russia and the United States concerning the Ukrainian conflict, according to Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and the Russian President's Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries.
Dmitriev's remarks came in response to a post on social media platform X by Anna Kelly, Deputy White House Press Secretary. Kelly was commenting on an article published by the Financial Times, which speculated about the potential role of CIA Director John Ratcliffe in resolving the Ukrainian conflict. Kelly herself dismissed the article as an "absolute fake."
"Why is the Financial Times publishing lies and fake news to disrupt the dialogue between the US and Russia and try to undermine the positions of [US Special Envoys] Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner? Probably because... the war-mongers in Britain/EU are in a panic over the dialogue and cooperation between the US and Russia?" Dmitriev's post on X stated.
The White House had previously issued a strong denial of the Financial Times article, which suggested a potential shift in US negotiation roles for the Ukraine settlement, with CIA Director Ratcliffe taking a key part, sidelining then-envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
On September 5, a meeting took place in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and American leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner. The meeting reportedly lasted for about three hours. During this encounter, the Russian leader emphasized the necessity of addressing all root causes of the Ukrainian conflict, as reported by Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.
The following day, the American negotiators arrived in Kyiv by train from Poland. Ukrainian media outlets reported that the talks were conducted in several stages, with representatives from the UK, France, and Germany joining at one point.
CIA Director Ratcliffe visited Moscow on August 25. His visit was connected to contacts between Russian and American intelligence agencies. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Ratcliffe did not have a meeting with President Putin in Moscow.
