Mount Dukono in Indonesia has erupted, resulting in two fatalities. This was reported on Thursday, May 7th, by Reuters, citing a local emergency department representative.

An ash plume ascended to an altitude of up to 10 kilometers, casting a gray-black hue across the sky. According to local authorities, the victims were two foreign climbers, citizens of China and Singapore.

Indonesian rescue services have commenced an operation to evacuate 20 tourists who went missing in the vicinity of the volcanic eruption on Halmahera Island.

The eruption is ongoing, with ash moving in a northerly direction. Tourists and locals are advised to maintain a safe distance from the volcano.

Additionally, in mid-March, Mount Shiveluch in Kamchatka erupted, spewing ash up to eight kilometers high. Explosions were heard in the nearby settlement of Klyuchi.
