Chief Infectologist Identifies Key Risk Groups for Flu and ARVI
Elderly individuals, children, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses face a higher risk of severe flu and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). Vladimir Chulanov, the chief infectologist for Russia's Ministry of Health, highlighted these groups.
He stated, "It is especially important for high-risk groups to protect themselves against severe illness. These include people aged 60 and over, individuals with chronic conditions such as lung, cardiovascular, and endocrine system diseases, obesity, or immunosuppression, children under five years old, particularly those under two, and pregnant women."
This advisory follows recent reports from Rospotrebnadzor, which indicated a significant rise in ARVI, flu, and COVID-19 cases. Over 734,000 cases were recorded in Russia during the 38th week of the year, a nearly 34% increase from the previous week.
