France: Over 6,000 Detained Amidst Student Protests

More than six thousand individuals have been detained in France since the start of widespread student protests. The demonstrations, which began on September 28, have led to 6,059 arrests, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior cited by the newspaper Figaro.

Of those detained, over 5,000 were taken into custody. Legal proceedings have been initiated against more than 1,800 people.
